What is Neurodivergent

Neurodivergent refers to individuals whose brain functions, processes information, and interacts with the world in ways that differ from what is considered typical or "neurotypical." This includes conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and others. The term emphasizes that these differences are part of the natural diversity of human brains and should be understood and accepted, rather than seen as disorders. The neurodivergent identity highlights the unique strengths and perspectives that individuals with these differences bring to society.

Our Focus on Autism

While we support and advocate for many neurodivergent conditions, we choose to focus on autism and its related conditions. Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a developmental condition that affects social interaction, communication, and behavior. Individuals with autism may perceive and interact with the world in unique ways, often showcasing distinct strengths, challenges, and perspectives. We focus on autism because it is widely recognized, encompasses a broad range of experiences, and is still frequently misunderstood and underrepresented in society. By focusing on autism, we aim to raise awareness, foster understanding, and advocate for the inclusion, support, and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum.
